Only a handful of actors from Tamil could capitalize on the popularity OTT platforms gained during the lockdown phase. Aishwarya Rajesh, who has been part of four direct-to-OTT releases, was one among them. Ka Pae Ranasingam, Thittam Irandu and Boomika were dropped on Zee5, SonyLIV and Netflix respectively within a span of a few months.

Though she came up with laudable performances in those films, it was her flawless portrayal in Amazon Prime Video’s series Suzhal which won her unanimous positive feedback from several quarters. The actress recently bagged the Inspiring Performer of the Year (Female) title at the OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023.
Sharing the excitement with us, she expressed happiness on winning the recognition for the first web series of her career. The project directed by Brahma and Anucharan had Pushkar and Gayatri as its showrunners. The eight-episode series had Aishwarya essaying the role of a young woman who sets out to find her lost sister.
“I’m overwhelmed with the recognition I have been showered with ever since Suzhal was released online last year. It was such a pleasure to have been associated with Amazon Prime. It’s good to see many actors and filmmakers getting their due because of a few popular digital platforms,” she said.
